i remember once, in 1999 while i was still living in SanAntonio, i was working at Taco Cabana, and i got all excited that it was raining. now, out here in the boonies, i find myself getting excited at seeing clouds in the sky....there is something very wrong about this....sigh....damn droughts...

sigh...my daughter turned 1 year old today. i find it incredible that she's been with me an entire year. gotta be the longest, yet fastest year of my entire life, with my wonderful little darling:)
She took her first few steps on saterday. the 29th of july. she took 3 unaided steps towards me, wobbled, righted herself, then took 2 running/falling steps towards me. she likes to practice walking now. i caught her today standing up and bouncing to some music that was playing on the TV, then she wobbled 3 steps to a nearby chair.:) she's sill very unbalanced (thank goddess for cushy diapers), but she's very determined. she'll stand up unaided, and wobble to me every chance she gets. :) happily, my parents are here and have caught her first steps on tape...i'm just completely thrilled about that. i wonder what i looked like when i took my first steps.
and she got her first "little touch leap pad" for her birthday. she was completly fascinated by it. she's started looking at books, trying to copy how i turn the pages when i read to her, and she spent almost 30 minutes studying the pictures of one particular book today. and she shoo'd me away if i tried to read it to her again(grin) she likes me to read it once then let her have it. its cute. but with the leap pad, it adds another deminsion of interacting and she loves to push buttons:) shiny book pictures plus buttons equals a very intent Serenity.
and i got my messy baby chocolate cake pictures (squeeee) with cute little pooh bear ears on her head...i couldn't find tigger so pooh had to sufice....
all in all...a happy day....a very very happy day:) and with a really fun school term starting in a few weeks, with a schedule that allows me to schedule some time every week to actually start riding my horse again and i won't have to leave my daughter in DC all day to do it, the world just looks all bright and shiny and damn close to absolutly perfect.

oh the cuteness of it all!!. Serenity discovered she can stand up in her pool today without holding on to anything. and she thinks its funny when she looses her balance and falls down in the pool. it was hysterical to see her stand up and splash down over and over again:) and she created the game 'peekaboo' this evening. and was just so proud of herself about it. Its wonderful.

whee, its been a long week, just gotta make it through my cuz'z wedding on saterday and then my parents go home (finally, i really do love them to death but....arrgg...mom can be...um...challanging)
My munchkin got to see her first fireworks show on tuesday, and she was completely rivited on the orchestra (NorthEast Texas Orchestra, my parents get hired to play with them every now and then) for most of the evening. She bounced in rythem to just about everything they played, much to the amusemnt of everyone around.:)
...smiles fer now...
